Canonical quantization of gravitational systems is obstructed by the problem time. Due to diffeomorphism symmetry Hamiltonian vanishes: dynamics with respect a background time parameter appears "frozen." Two strategies towards such are identification clock degree freedom before (deparametrization), and on kinematical Hilbert space which subject constraints (Dirac quantization). Canonical Quantization of Noncommutative Field Theory
A simple method to canonically quantize noncommutative field theories is proposed. As a result, the elementary excitations of a (2n + 1)-dimensional scalar field theory are shown to be bilocal objects living in an (n + 1)-dimensional space-time. Feynman rules for their scattering are derived canonically. They agree, upon suitable redefinitions, with the rules obtained via star-product methods. ...
متن کاملCosmology from group field theory formalism for quantum gravity.
We identify a class of condensate states in the group field theory (GFT) formulation of quantum gravity that can be interpreted as macroscopic homogeneous spatial geometries. We then extract the dynamics of such condensate states directly from the fundamental quantum GFT dynamics, following the procedure used in ordinary quantum fluids. The effective dynamics is a nonlinear and nonlocal extensi...
متن کاملCanonical quantization of non-local field equations
We consistently quantize a class of relativistic non-local field equations characterized by a non-local kinetic term in the lagrangian. We solve the classical non-local equations of motion for a scalar field and evaluate the on-shell hamiltonian. The quantization is realized by imposing Heisenberg’s equation which leads to the commutator algebra obeyed by the Fourier components of the field. We...
متن کاملCanonical Quantization, Space-Time Noncommutativity and Deformed Symmetries in Field Theory
Within the spirit of Dirac’s canonical quantization, noncommutative spacetime field theories are introduced by making use of the reparametrization invariance of the action and of an arbitrary non-canonical symplectic structure. This construction implies that the constraints need to be deformed, resulting in an automatic Drinfeld twisting of the generators of the symmetries associated with the r...
متن کاملBarbero–Immirzi field in canonical formalism of pure gravity
The Barbero–Immirzi (BI) parameter is promoted to a field and a canonical analysis is performed when it is coupled with a Nieh–Yan topological invariant. It is shown that, in the effective theory, the BI field is a canonical pseudoscalar minimally coupled with gravity. This framework is argued to be more natural than the one of the usual Holst action. Potential consequences in relation with inf...
